While TANY works year-round to educate legislators on the industry's issues, it is often discussions with constituents that gives them the encouragement to either support or oppose legislation.
The Call on Albany program provides TANY members the opportunity to meet with legislators and their staff to discuss priority issues. TANY provides a legislative briefing ahead of the event to prepare attendees for the meetings.
Members are typically divided by region of the state and a lead lobbyist or representative is assigned to each group to facilitate the legislative meetings. This program was a key to TANY’s success in preventing the implementation of truck route restrictions across the state, as well as in protecting the independent contractor model in New York State.
